ARCHIE SONIC
BACKGROUND
What if I told you 1000 years into the future, all of humanity will be destroyed? You’re probably saying, “Yeah I buy it”, and I respond with “Shut up, I’m the one telling the story and writing the blog”. Well one of the surviving humans, Doctor Ivo Robotnik, had different plans. He saw a world full of furries and knew what had to be done. However, he might or might not have killed a people, but hey, gotta crack a few eggs to make an omelet. Okay, so he might have roboticized the parents of his future enemy. And who’s that future enemy? He’s known to only his family as Sonic Maurice Hedgehog, and he-
WAIT THE FUCK!?
Well I’ll be damned. Rumors have it his first name is Ogilvie. Regardless, Sonic, having lost his parents, family, and whole planet, fights Robotnik in a several year war.
ARSENAL
Shoes
Sonic’s shoes aren’t just for show, they were created by his Uncle Chuck to survive his super speed.
Power Rings
Can be used to restore stolen speed, grant Sonic required knowledge, and create portals.
One Billionth Ring
After obtaining one billion rings, Sonic was awarded a special ring by the gods. It gives him the ability to protect his mind and a little bit of teleportation. Most of all, Sonic gets a protective aura.
Chaos Emeralds
Seven magical McGuffins that give the user superpowers. They’re pretty strong.
Super Emerald
One super magical McGuffin that gives the user superpowers.
ABILITIES
Spin Dash
That one iconic move that has a bunch of dumbass names and variations, such as the Sonic Spin and the Sonic Super Spin.
Homing Attack
A spin attack that locks onto targets. Sonic has used this for combo attacks.
Super Peel Out
A figure 8 technique that allows Sonic to boost up to top speeds instantly.
Whirlwinds
Waddya think? Sonic can use this to steal oxygen and counter pyrokinesis.
Phasing
Allows Sonic to become temporarily intangible, though it takes a great amount of effort.
Pressure Points
Yeah Sonic’s a martial artist.
Chaos Force
Think of the Force from Star Wars or the Speed Force from DC Comics. It’s just a field of extra dimensional energy.
Chaos Control
This ultimate technique has multiple functions. It allows Sonic to rewind time and even warp reality (to a confusing extent).
Chaos Energy
Allows Super Sonic to manipulate energy.
TRANSFORMATIONS
Super Sonic
This is what happens when a Saiyan doesn’t evolve properly and turns into a complete furry. Basically, this golden form of majestic greatness increases Sonic’s strength and speed, as well as giving him flight and invulnerability. Unfortunately, it drains energy quite fast, so it won’t last long.
Ultra Sonic
With this form, Sonic can manipulate atoms and even create a portal to the Zone of Silence. However, it’s stamina drain is even worse than Super Saiyan 3 if you allowed Goku to use Kaio-Ken while doing it.
FEATS
Strength
• Slammed into Eggman from across the continent (775 TW/cm2)
• Tears through the ground as Super Sonic (13.2 GW/cm2)
• I don’t think I need to say more

• Okay, um, wow, that’s excessive
Just to let you know…
We understand that many of the community’s expected feats were not present in this blog. The prediction team ultimately decided that many of these feats did not hold up under our philosophy. We went through great efforts to ensure that feats were looked at and calculated from all different angles. Although this interpretation of these famously OP characters may not be like the norm, we hope you enjoyed this blog so far. While we will not go through these feats, you can likely expect it from the official team in one of their Q&As. Thank you for your time.

Predictions
Loinut
Paper Mario vs Archie Sonic is an… interesting matchup, and the journey to this verdict has been to. With all of the new information found as the discussion continued, things have changed a lot from the simple starting point of an Archie stomp. The stats are heavily skewed in Archie’s favor. Archie’s AP and Durability are both in the high Terawatt range, which is leaps above the best we’ve seen for Paper. (While 35 MW is likely not the maximum output of Paper since he could possibly have more feats, it’s unlikely he’ll get anything comparable to Sonic’s best feats). Speed is no different. Archie is about 10 percent of the speed of light, so he should have no trouble blitzing Paper Mario. While Paper Mario does have methods of immobilizing Sonic such as his multiple time stops, these really don’t matter anymore with the overwhelming stat difference. There’s barely anything Mario can do to even scratch Archie. This isn’t to say Paper Mario doesn’t have any useful tools, however. He can induce statuses like sleep, which could theoretically end the fight. However, in practice, it’s unlikely that Paper will actually use it to incapacitate Archie and will probably keep on fighting, allowing for the fight to continue. Alternatively, he could use things like the Return Postage badge and Spite Pouch to deal 100% of the damage taken by him to Archie. Problem is, this isn’t going to do much. To provide the exact numbers, Archie has a damage output of 227 terawatts per square centimeter, while Paper’s top durability is about 50 TW/cm2. Even if he returned the full amount of damage, it wouldn’t be enough to be fatal to Archie. While you could argue Paper Mario has regeneration able to survive Sonic’s attack, Sonic wouldn’t have to kill him to win. By using a lesser amount of his power, he could easily knock Mario out and end the fight right there. The one thing Paper Mario has that could defeat Archie is the fan. Unfortunately, this just ain’t reliable. As shown by the animation of the attack, Paper simply transports the hapless enemies to space, where they are blown away by a massive fan. Now, the intelligent within the audience may say that Sonic could just fly away and the fan would do nothing. They are wrong. The fan would actually do two things. One: Force Sonic to go Super. Two: Show Sonic that Mario is a threat. That’s lights out for Paper. While Sonic’s cocky and arrogant personality almost led to his downfall, it’s basically a non factor at this stage considering his massive stat advantage. Paper just can’t exploit it quite like he could before. In the end, Archie just is too strong and durable for Mario to deal with reliably, and his best tools just aren’t going to be enough. This is a true underdog arc for Sonic, though. We started with him far weaker than he actually was, with low limits. But, he quickly exceeded our expectations and broke his limits, securing this victory. Bravo, Archie, bravo. Archie Sonic is the winner of today’s bout.
Papa Smurf
Hello, it is I Smurf. Here to bring you a prediction after forgetting to write one up for the last 2 blogs.
So we all know Archie Sonic is fast. Way faster than Mario will be under bracket and with this speed comes great power. Power that, at its peak, will 1 shot Mario. This would make it seem like a clear cut fight but remember, this is at its absolute peak. Archie Sonic won’t go all out at the beginning so this power is irrelevant until Paper Mario ticks Archie off to the point of going all out. Doesn’t really make it much better since Archie’s effective combat speed should dwarf Paper’s in comparison but it does allow Paper to stay alive long enough to pull off some of his haxes in which he has some potent ones.Time Stop would probably be the most effective and would be the main one Mario starts off with once he gets wind that Archie is too fast for him to hit. Main point of the timestops across the games are to allow players to deal with enemies that are either hard to block, hard to deal damage too, or just to give players (and Mario) breathing room to apply items to themselves or apply statuses to the foes while they are frozen. Given this, Mario can end the fight or better his chances with whatever he needs for at least 1 minute (Unless he uses cut-out which is longer but limited. But he could remove Archie from the fight entirely with it). Badges will stagger Archie Sonic with stuff like Return Postage or Zap-Tap, Thing Cards will either take him out or make him feel uncomfortable (looking at you plunger) and what is he gonna do when Morton Koopa Jr gets summoned and hits him with the
Paper Mario’s buste regen also allows him to survive Archie’s hardest attacks and come back with little effort. The main point is that Paper’s Mario’s items and abilities can stretch way farther than base Archie can probably deal with coming at him all at once as long as he’s held down long enough. When Archie goes Super it's pretty much a wrap since he basically becomes way faster than his normal self which is already near lightspeed. Paper can deal with the invulnerability since Star Stickers,Royal Stickers and Pure Hearts can deal with it quite nicely. But the thing is, Mario can get rid of the invulnerability but still can’t really hit him. Why? Because Archie is fast. Can’t Mario stop him in time again? Archie is fast plus once he’s super that basically guarantees him wanting to end the fight quickly. And boy can he be quick. Mario’s best bet in this situation is going 2d and waiting him out or else he’s lost. So the verdict for me is that Mario can take out Archie in his base but if Colosseum allows Archie to transform into super it's basically all over for Mario. Unless Archie hits him too hard and dies to Return postage. But then again Archie’s bfr will 100% work on Mario so it heavily depends on Archie’s character and feelings towards Mario at that moment. But more often than not it will be a bfr and Paper’s fall.

Greetings once again, friends! MKF4 here, ready to predict Archie Sonic vs. Paper Mario. Again. This is my second time writing this script.
It’s been a long and chaotic road to this fight, but here we are at last time for the big battle. We’ve been at absolute war trying to figure this fight out, but it seems we eventually managed to get everything together, or at least enough to make decent predictions.
Under most rulesets, the general consensus would probably be a clear-cut victory for Archie Sonic, one of the most blatantly terrifying forces in debating for certain. Under Smash Bracket’s rules, the fight isn’t nearly so easy to determine a winner for, as Archie Sonic’s scaling chain gets thrown out the door. In fairness, Paper Mario won’t be scaling to Dimentio or anything in this fight, so things are pretty evened out in that regard.
To begin with stats, Archie Sonic wins the speed debate.
I’ll give you a moment to recover from the certain shock you got from that, you’ll likely need some time.
That’s enough time. Getting back to it, Archie is faster than Paper, and there’s no question about it. He could potentially blitz Paper, though he’s not going to be getting immeasurable or anything crazy like that this time around.
Durability should go to Paper, but if we were right, both sides should be too bulky for the other to defeat normally. Both sides have decent AP, but their defenses are just too good to be beaten normally. This is a battle of hax.
Archie’s most blatant hax option is BFR, thanks to Ultra Sonic. Pretty clear cut, he opens a portal and chucks you into the Zone of Silence.
Or the Special Zone if we want to discuss the place after Feist gave it a makeover. As someone who’s at least decently familiar with Archie lore, I will never understand that bear.
BFR should be able to reliably stop Paper Mario, unless Paper uses the Royal Stickers to wish himself back to the battlefield. I feel this is a stretch, but it isn’t completely impossible. Unlike Archie Sonic’s wishes, the Royal Stickers have a direct feat, so they’re more likely to be used by Bracket.
However, Paper Mario is armed with some solid win conditions as well. He can put people to sleep, make them dizzy for extensive periods of time, poison them, potentially BFR with Paperization, and can even send every piece of physical damage Archie deals back into his face.
For example, let’s say Archie spin-dashes Paper Mario. Thanks to the Spite Pouch and the Return Postage badge, Paper Mario can cause half of the dealt damage to inflict the attacker. Making things more complex is that stacking these two items causes 100% dealt damage to slap the offender, meaning that any damage Archie deals with a spin-dash will hit him. This makes it where Archie will absolutely not want to attack Paper directly, as Paper’s higher durability means that Archie relying exclusively on base form will result in a likely loss.
Super forms can also likely be dealt with, thanks to the Peach Beam shutting down invincibility. Paper could possibly shut Archie’s invincibility off with this, though it is debatable.
How long Ultra and BFR can last is very difficult to figure out. Ultra can only last one BFR, so if Paper Mario somehow escapes, Ultra’s out of luck. Power Rings could still be used to pull it off though, so that is valid. Paper Mario could potentially BFR Archie Sonic via Paperization, though Archie could likely escape, though if this repeats he’d eventually run out of rings to do so.
Now of course, you’ve likely begun wondering, “so they both have good win-conditions, who wins this thing?”
And in my personal opinion, I have to give my verdict to…
*Drumroll*
Paper Mario.
Now that I’ve ruined my career as a debater, I’ll present the probably stupid case I have for Paper possibly pulling this off.
Yes, I’m biased. I love Paper Mario and was probably one of the most hyped people for Origami King. (Speaking of which, if you haven’t played it yet I would recommend it. It’s pretty good.)
However, I think Paper Mario has some legitimately good conditions for winning this.
The fan sticker seems to outdo any durability Archie has, so if that connects the fight might be over. The sponge can protect Mario from attacks. Sleep and dizzy both incapacitate the enemy, which are valid win-conditions in Bracket and ones Mario would use in-character. He’s also got a truckload of ways to activate them. He doesn’t even need to hit Archie with the Baahammer for sleep, thanks to the pillow and bed stickers. Paperization can potentially BFR. Paper Mario’s time-stops could very well work thanks to Bracket’s rules. Return Postage, Spite Pouch, and Zap Trap make it where anytime Archie hits Paper physically he is going to pay for it dearly. Paper has a huge arsenal of healing and regeneration options. Paper’s higher durability coupled with these items makes it where Archie is going to have an insanely hard time winning in base form. The Royal Stickers give Paper a way to possibly escape Ultra Sonic, not to mention a hit from the Peach Beam could stop Ultra in its tracks. Bracket’s rules on piercing damage turns stickers like scissors or thumbtack into legitimate threats.
And of course, Bracket’s rule on keeping characters in-character. Archie will likely waste time taunting his enemy, and wouldn’t instantly go for Ultra right off the bat. Mario would probably trigger his win-conditions sooner into the fight, such as putting Archie Sonic to sleep or pulling the fan.
Without BFR or bypassing Return Postage with Super Sonic’s projectiles, I’m not sure how all Archie Sonic can win.
And you know what? I could be totally wrong. Perhaps Bracket treats Paper differently than Pokemon and doesn’t give him his entire arsenal. Perhaps Archie Sonic will get the Sword of Acorns, though I have strong doubts this will happen. Perhaps I’ve overestimated Paper Mario’s durability.
At the end of the day, if that happens, that’s fine with me. Archie’s speed advantage is going to be a hurdle to overcome and BFR remains a valid threat. I just don’t think this fight is the stomp people say it is, and think that Paper Mario has a good chance of pulling it off. If Archie wins, then that’s cool, he’s definitely got valid win-conditions and I think it would make sense. However, with Bracket’s in-character rule, Paper’s huge arsenal, and ways to counter a large amount of what Archie has to offer, I feel like Paper could very well win.
Call me crazy and I could very well be completely wrong, but I’m going to give my vote to Paper Mario. Thank you for reading, and have a great day.
