Ganondorf vs Isabelle FAQ

See this content in the original post

Smash Bracket’s episode for Ganondorf vs Isabelle was just published. While there aren’t many people who will disagree with the outcome, there are still several common questions I receive that I’ve addressed here.

Isabelle

Since Ganon is in Animal Crossing, couldn’t Isabelle just evict him?

She might be able to, but that would notably not take him out of the fight in any capacity.

Can’t Isabelle erase things from existence like she did with the town?

When you delete your town in New Leaf, Isabelle is the one helping you out with the task. She refers to it as completely erasing the town and all its residents. In Happy Home Designer, she also referenced the fact that she used to work for a mayor who erased the town. Aside from this feat being pretty dubious in the first place, though, her dialogue really seems to imply that the mayor is the one doing the erasing anyway, not her. And, of course, this action is never shown in the first place.

Doesn’t Isabelle have the Triforce and Master Sword?

There are triforce and master sword decorations in a few Animal crossing games, but these are never demonstrated to have power equal to the real versions. And even if they had the same powers as the originals, Isabelle has never demonstrated herself to be capable of wielding them.

Doesn’t Isabelle have Mario power ups?

Like the Zelda decorations, there are some Mario power-up decorations in Animal Crossing. But these have never displayed themselves to have the same powers as the originals. The only one that could potentially make a difference is the super star, but since Isabelle doesn’t have any durability feats Ganondorf would be able to blow past her invincibility anyway.

Shouldn’t Isabelle be strong enough to pick up stars?

In New Horizons, you can wish on shooting stars. When you do so, they fall out of the sky and wash up on shore, where you can pick them up. They are star shaped and called star fragments. However, shooting stars are not actually made out of stars (they’re just rocks) so this feat isn’t impressive in any way.

Ganondorf

Isn’t Ganondorf omnipotent because of the Triforce?

The Triforce has been shown to be capable of extremely impressive feats and is often stated to contain vast amounts of power. However, the Triforce has only demonstrated its most impressive abilities when used to make a wish, and a user is only able to get a single wish out of the Triforce. Ganondorf’s other feats with the Triforce have been examined and factored into his current strength.

Why did you make Ganondorf fight Isabelle when the matchup is so unfair?

Because we’re doing a tournament, that means that some of the matchups are going to be extremely one sided for the first couple of rounds. While we could have tried to avoid this and made only even matchups from the beginning, that would have made it so that future rounds saw matchups like this one. We prefer to get these kinds of matches out of the way early so that our later rounds can contain the best matches possible.

Why didn’t you have calculations for Ganondorf this episode?

We use calculations to help us understand how the fighters compare to each other, but that wasn’t really necessary for this matchup. We mostly just focused on making sure that we weren’t grievously misunderstanding either of the characters and collecting enough feats to demonstrate for the videos. Ganondorf will have much more in depth research in future rounds.
