Duck Hunt vs Ice Climbers

INTRODUCTION
Heyo, it’s me, Advert! After a bit of a (few) break(s), I’m back to writing the prediction blog alongside MKF4. I apologize for the Minecraft Battle Royale feeling so rushed, but I can say that I’m more proud of this blog than all the others. Without further ado, let’s look into our combatants.
DUCK HUNT
BACKGROUND
Long ago, a man and his best friend went hunting. They shot duck after duck, bringing those little f**kers down from the sky with the trusty glock. Oh, yeah, and the duck just kinda never left or something. Does that duck not realize what they’re doing?
EQUIPMENT
A Gun
This trusty gun can bring down birds from the sky. It’s a cool gun. But in all seriousness, this appears to be a Colt Single Action Army. It’s been around since 1873 and can fire bullets at speeds varying from 270 to 300 meters per second.
ABILITIES
A Dog
The Duck Hunt Dog is a hunting dog… yeah that’s pretty much it. It can smell pretty good I guess. I mean, it’s probably a beagle, which can run up to 20 mph.
A Duck
This duck is probably a mallard, which can fly up to 55 mph.
FEATS
Strength
· The Colt can deliver up to 3.3 MW/cm2 of intensity
Speed
· A beagle can run up to 20 mph
· A mallard can fly up to 55 mph
· The hunter can catch the ducks at these speeds
Durability
· The duck can tank gunshots from the Colt
· The dog can also tank these gunshots
ICE CLIMBERS
BACKGROUND
Nana and Popo climb ice… yeah I think that’s it. Fun fact, they were banned from Smash 4 because fighting in pairs in 1v1 matches were prohibited.
EQUIPMENT
Some Mallets
They’re used to whack things. Not much else to say.
ABILITIES
Jumping
They got hops. Jeez, these characters don’t have much to work with here. There aren’t many games for them.
FEATS
Strength
· Are capable of breaking off ice blocks (543 KW/cm2)
· Can completely annihilate icicles (263 KW/cm2)
Speed
· Can jump several feet in the air (20 mph)
Durability
· Can tank some pretty large falls thanks to their jump height

So yeah, I’m not gonna beat around the bush or anything. The team with a gun beats the team without one. Crazy, I know.
Compared to regular people, the Ice Climbers are fairly strong, being able to break off blocks of ice and knock back those weird anthropomorphic polar bears. They could probably defeat the dog, duck, and gunner if they could get in close enough (though even that’s debatable since the dog survives getting shot by the gunman). However, besides falling a couple stories and not breaking their ankles, the Ice Climbers have no durability to speak of. One shot between the eyes will be enough to put them down.
I don’t see the duck or dog doing much attacking outside of acting as distractions. So the question is, can the Ice Climbers close the distance before the gunman blows their brains out?
No, no they can’t.
The Ice Climbers’ speed is pitiful. I’d reckon any able bodied person over the age of twelve could beat them in a footrace. Granted, they can jump pretty high, pretty fast, but that just puts them in a position where the gunman can easily defeat them as they’re falling back down to the ground. Remember that the gunman has plenty of experience blasting fast moving objects out of the air, so the Ice Climbers either move at a snail’s pace or play right into the gunman’s area of expertise. They have neither the durability to tank the bullets nor the speed to dodge them.
I’m baffled to say that the Duck Hunt Trio has managed to win a fight. Congratulations.

"Ah... Ice Climbers vs Duck Hunt Trio. What a fun little matchup this is. It actually has a lot of connections somehow. One of my favorites being that they both originated in 1984. I wasn't alive back then. Anyways who wins? Duck Hunt Trio. Here’s why. The Ice Climbers are a pretty competent duo who have gone through chilling mountains, polar bears, the controls of their own game my god it's awful. They have hammers which could take the whole trio down if they get a good shot with it. However I don’t think they are going to do that. The dog and the duck aren't too impressive although the duck can fly up to around 50 miles per hour. Imagine getting speed blitzed by a duck. Its sad. I think that Popo and Nana could take down the Dog and the Duck, but the thing that changes things, is the Hunter. The Hunter has a gun. This gun is typically used to slay ducks. But its a gun so it could kill Popo, Nana, Me, even You. I don’t think the Ice Climbers have anything they can do against the gun other than disarming the gunman which is why i believe that Duck Hunt Trio will take the victory over the Bone Chilling Duo."

Well, this is.... a battle. There really isn't much to get or use from either fighter, and I'm surprised how much has been compiled. However, what's been dug up really doesn't change a very open and shut verdict in my opinion. Everything the Ice Climbers does is just outclassed. Any shred of durability or attack potency they have is instantly destroyed by a very strong gun. Not even their disintegration of an icicle can help them. The animals are just a very good distraction for the real player behind the scenes. They deserve it too, after their abuse of poor animals like seals and birds. While the Ice Climbers might have tried hard, a combination of canine agility, avian tenacity, and human gun means Duck Hunt will be taking the victory and the Icies' final ascent shall be up to heaven.

What the dog doin? Read on for the answer: Ok.. from what I have gathered.. Duck Hunt has a couple of Arcade Stuff that give Dog the ability to survive a Gun Shot to the face, and falling several meters from the sky after JUMPING VERY HIGH. (Dog literally jumps in the air in the Arcade, High as ducks flying, and shooting him by accident instead of the Ducks, will turn his face black from smoke, and give him a broken leg from the massive height he fell from) and as the name "Duck Hunt Trio" Implies, The Dog will not only get his companion duck, he'll also bring his trusty hunting pal, the Gun Man. Ice Climbers also has some Arcade stuff, but unlike Duck Hunt, it's pretty much the exact same game, no new feats like Duck Hunt Trio. The only thing Ice Climbers has is their Wooden Hammer, which can break thin sheets of rock, and god do I mean THIN sheets of rock. also, Ice Climbers don't get Ice Powers like in Smash, that's just a Smash Exclusive Move like PK Fire. Ice Climbers have literally nothing in terms of durability and strength. Because they only have one canon NES game and a slight Arcade version which adds nothing new to the characters so... to answer the question from the top "What the Dog doin?" It's simple, He's Stat Stomping Icees.. That's what the dog doin.
MKF4
Hello everyone! MKF4 here again as always to bring you yet another prediction for Smash Bracket.
This time around we have one of the frankly weirdest fights in VS. Debating, as two of Nintendo’s NES stars duke it out. Who wins?
They should both consider themselves lucky Sakurai decided not to make Takamaru playable because he’d slam dunk these chumps.
Oh right the verdict. This is going to be one of the stranger predictions, as unlike most fights, there isn’t much in the way of stats or hax we can use for these fighters. As with previous strange fights like Lucina vs. ROB or Ganondorf vs. Isabelle, I expect Ink and the team to still take the research seriously, and thus I will try to keep my blog to the same level of quality as I have before. That being said, I likely will not be able to use quite as much detail, simply for lack of content to utilize. Regardless, I will do my best to give a fair and accurate prediction.
Diving right into it, I will be doing something a bit different and making my prediction in two halves. Duck Hunt is armed with a strange question, that being whether or not the Gunman will be used.
I will begin by assuming Ink and his team choose not to use the Gunman, perhaps for the reason of only the dog and duck being playable in Smash Bros.
If this is the case, speaking frankly, Duck Hunt is stuffed. Honestly, Duck Hunt without the Gunman could very well bag the mobility advantage. The Ice Climbers are able to jump about 20 mph, which is pretty good jumping. They also somehow manage to walk about on clouds. Frankly this doesn’t make any scientific sense, so after wasting a few minutes trying to come up with a solution, I ultimately decided to assume they have some sort of cloud hax.
However, on the ground they’re really slow and the dog has some solid jumping ability as well. And the duck flies, the Climbers can’t really beat that. Therefore, I personally feel Duck Hunt might take the mobility edge in this fight.
The problem is that without the Gunner, Duck Hunt doesn’t really have any way to hurt the Ice Climbers. At all.
Due to Bracket’s rule of not using Smash exclusive content, all of Duck Hunt’s arsenal from Hogan’s Alley and Wild Gunman is getting thrown out the window and into the dumpster to be taken away by the garbage truck to a landfill where they will never be used.
Without that, what does Duck Hunt have to use against the Ice Climbers in battle?
They have no chance against the Ice Climbers like this, they just can’t harm them. Meanwhile, I don’t consider the Ice Climbers extremely heavy hitters or anything, but those mallets aren’t just for show. Even without climbing into calculations it’s pretty obvious that the Ice Climbers have the advantage here.
If Ink and his team decide not to use the Gunman, Ice Climbers have this in the bag. However, I personally find it way more likely the Gunner gets used, and things change significantly if this comes to pass.
Right off the bat, the Duck Hunt team is now armed with a way to harm the Ice Climbers, that being a gun. Very surprising twist reveal there, I know.
In fairness, the crossover equipment remains a non-factor, so the Wild Gunmen aren’t going to show up and blast the Ice Climbers. Not in the research anyway, perhaps they’ll show up in the animation, you never know.
However, this does remove Duck Hunt’s biggest weakness and gives them a much better chance against the Ice Climbers. Thus, it’s time we actually get started on the facts of this fight.
It appears the best the Ice Climbers should get is breaking ice, unsurprisingly. This gets them to a few Kilowatts, frankly not that much in Bracket. If Bracket is feeling generous, they could get a durability feat for the fight’s other major game-changer.
The Polar Bear.
The Polar Bear is going to be a massive issue for the Duck Hunt squad if it gets used.
That bear’s quakes rock a mountain and are implied to knock it deeper into the ground, which would be a terrifying calculation under Smash Bracket’s ruleset.
If the Ice Climbers get this calculation, Duck Hunt once again stands no chance, as they would simply just be way too durable for Duck Hunt to stop. And unlike Yoshi, there’s no transmutation hax to save Duck Hunt.
But there’s one small detail that I should mention. I strongly doubt the Ice Climbers are going to get Polar Bear calculations at all. It feels like an incredible stretch under Bracket’s rules.
The Ice Climbers never directly tank the Polar Bear’s hits themselves, and even hitting the Polar Bear doesn’t directly destroy it or anything. It just gets knocked away. Which is impressive, but not a heavy amount of watts or anything.
Thus, I feel relying on the Polar Bear for a Climber win is not going to work out in anybody’s favor. At all.
That all being said the Climbers should still hold the advantage in close-quarters combat, being armed with superior weaponry for such a fight. However they have no chance in a long range scenario. They get beaten in mobility, and Duck Hunt has a gun. This makes it where the Duck Hunt team could reliably out-camp the Ice Climbers and shoot them down. Literally.
In fairness there’s the chance Bracket makes note of the limited ammo in Duck Hunt, meaning the Gunman is only going to have a few shots to eliminate the Climbers with. However, thanks to the mobility advantage, I feel the odds are ultimately in the Gunman’s favor. And that leads to one more point on the Gunman.
While I’ve heard the Gunman will be represented with a sprite, how will it be interpreted in research? In Smash, the Gunman is represented as a player sniping from their television with a Zapper, away from combat.
If this is what Ink and Lemon use, then the Gunman will have a very unique advantage over the entirety of Bracket, that being he can never be hit.
Nobody will be able to reach the Gunman while he sits on the couch blasting his enemies to pieces, armed with his trusty NES Zapper. There is the possibility the Gunman will be placed on the battlefield; in which case my prediction stays unchanged. The Gunman can still use the mobility advantage and would have the odds in his favor that he’d be able to stop the Climbers more often than not.
However, if Bracket interprets Gunman as being beyond the screen and just represented for animation purposes, Ice Climbers are in even more trouble than I initially thought. Gunman will have a huge vantage point to shoot them down and will always be able to see their every move. To make things worse for Popo and Nana, they can’t do anything to stop him.
So ultimately, this match relies heavily on how the Gunman is used. The dog and duck should have a mobility advantage, but without the Gunman they can’t do much.
Gunman on the battlefield will likely have limited ammo but has a huge range advantage and should be able to stop the two Ice Climbers before they can take down the trio of himself plus the dog and duck.
And if the Gunman gets to relax on the couch in front of the TV with a bag of potato chips and his trusty Zapper, the Climbers are doomed. Perhaps I’m mistaken and the Ice Climbers have something that enables them to beat Duck Hunt, but I currently doubt it.
Well, post writing my prediction before sending it to be processed, Ink confirmed that the Gunman will be interacting with the fight but will be located on the battlefield instead of on the couch. This does put a damper on some of my prediction and eliminated some ideas, but I’ve chosen to keep them here for sake of discussion and preservation. Ultimately, it didn’t shake my prediction up much, as I was ultimately leaning heavily towards this outcome anyway. In short, I got it right.
Anyway, I am going to expand on a bit more in this blog now. Ink also gave us a bit of a prediction challenge using an element I previously forgot to discuss in my prediction, so I will rectify that mistake now.
This is the subject of personality and morals. Ink might have been joking, but that’s not going to stop me anyway. Frankly, we have no way to know if there’s any personality traits stopping the Gunman from blasting the Ice Climbers. Gunman just doesn’t have a very detailed personality; he’s represented by whoever it is playing Duck Hunt and likely wishing they could blast that mutt when it starts laughing at you.
Therefore, we don’t really have a way to completely decide if this would happen. Personally though, I doubt it will stop Duck Hunt from winning. Another major role is that fighters know they are in a competition, and the Gunman is going to have two people swinging mallets fighting him. I personally doubt he’d try to win with his bare hands.
Of course, there’s always the possibility that I perhaps missed a detail or something. Perhaps Ice Climbers secretly have a feat I don’t know about that lets them win the fight, anything is possible. But from the data and information I have, I do personally feel that a victory for the Duck Hunt squad is more likely. If the Ice Climbers manage to get in close, I think they could take it, but Gunman is armed with a good range advantage as well.
If Ink and Lemon decide the two Ice Climbers can close the gap and disarm or dispatch the Gunman before they both get blasted, then that’s alright with me. It is their show after all. But personally, my prediction is ultimately leaning in favor of Duck Hunt. However, I will note that we apparently have missed the Climber team’s best feat in these predictions, if Lemon is to be believed. And I frankly believe him, so we could all be totally off. But for what we have, I personally do feel safe with this prediction. Regardless of this blog’s accuracy, thanks for reading, and have a great day!
